Scholars Academy

The Scholars Academy was started in 2007 for high school students to take college courses at USC Upstate for college and high school credit. They also take classes at their high school as well. Academically-talented students with high PSAT scores, good grades, and self-motivation may apply in January of their 8th grade year. Approximately 25% of applicants are accepted into the program each year. Students who are accepted into the program are notified in late spring of their eighth grade year, and begin the program their freshman year of high school.
While the Scholars Academy offers a unique opportunity for accelerated education and up to two years of college credit for accepted high school students, Scholars Academy students are not eligible to be named valedictorian or salutatorian at Chesnee High School.
