Chorus

Welcome to Choir!

Chorus is one of the most rewarding classes you could ever be a part of. You are able to connect
with the world and yourself in a very special way and that is through the power of your own voice. In this class we go beyond the idea of simply singing and we analyze the text and musical components to find out ways we can connect it to ourselves so, when performing, it is coming from a place that is personal.

The plan is to grow this program so students can have the opportunity to travel and

represent the school and gain the true choir experience. In this class students can expect not only vocal growth, but personal growth by learning leadership, discipline, structure, organization, and what it takes to be a part of something that is a team effort. I want all students in this program to see chorus as more than a class on their schedule, but as a way of life.

About Me:

I am Mr. Justin A. Williams, I was born in Holly Hill SC and moved to Chesnee at the age of 7. I grew up in Spartanburg County School District 2 where I graduated from Chesnee High School in 2018.

During my time at CHS I participated in the choir, marching band, concert band, jazz band, and orchestra as a vocalist; and always desired to return as a teacher.Justin Williams

After graduating CHS, I went on to Claflin University to receive my degree in Music where I have recently graduated as a member of the class of 2022.

During my time at Claflin University, I studied voice with Dr. Jolene Flory and Dr. Darius Gilliard. I also studied Education with Dr. Laura Keith. I was also a part of the Claflin University Concert Choir, under the direction of Dr. Charlie Toomer. I was able to perform and travel with other choirs such as Bethune-Cookman University which led to a lot of growth both as a musician as well as an individual.

I am excited to now return to my alma mater as the new Choir Director, Piano, and Music Appreciation teacher. My goal this school year is to build and inspire well developed students who understand and respect the arts as well as themselves.

In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, traveling, and of course listening to music and singing. I am ecstatic to work with the faculty, students, and administration here at CHS, as we work together, to build up the future of tomorrow.
