Her volleyball coach at Chesnee High School, Katie Jolley, had this to say about her:
"Abbie is not only a standout on the volleyball court, but she is also one of the top 5 in her class. She has helped us start 16-5 and 8-2 in the region. She has strived to improve her setting and putting her hitters in the best position possible to be successful. She works hard in the classroom also. She is looking to become an educator once she finishes high school. "

It's important to remember these important attendance details as it pertains to High School.
1. By state law a student is only allowed 5 parent notes per semester (10 total for the school year.)
2. Attendance is taken in each class. A student must be present for each class to be marked present and a student must be present for at least half of the class.
3. At the high school level students are earning credits towards their 24 total credits needed for graduating. If a student does not meet attendance requirements then they could fail that class due to attendance.

The Eagles spent a couple of hours on the playground with the Falcons, throwing the football, teaching cheers and stunts, and giving back to the community they call home, something Chesnee High School Football Head Coach Brett Chappell doesn’t want his athletes to forget.
“We wanted to give back to the community a little bit because some of the elementary schools obviously feed Chesnee Middle School and High School,” Chappell said. “Quite a few of our kids, players, and cheerleaders came through Mayo, so they were excited about coming back here and seeing some of the teachers again. It’s so good to see our older kids trying to be mentors to some of the younger kids.”
Cheerleader Ella Rising understands the kind of platform she and her teammates and classmates hold in the community.
“Inspiring these kids, it really makes the football players and cheerleaders feel like they’ve impacted some young lives," she said. #D2DifferenceMaker

Those words by Chesnee High School Special Education Teacher Sylvia Landrum explain her explosion of joy when her named was called at our Welcome Back Convocation as the recipient of a set of tires courtesy of our community partners at Michelin!
“I consider it a blessing."
Landrum, the district's 2023-24 Teacher of the Year, said it is so special to know that such a large company supports her mission as an educator. #D2DifferenceMakers
"Thanks Michelin for keeping me rolling," she said. "I'm getting safely to school, and I really appreciate those tires. Thanks for what you're doing for the community."

"I was shocked to hear my name, because there was some very tough competition," Coffey said. "I was up against some really strong educators, so I'm very grateful."
Mrs. Coffey received the recognition at our Welcome Back Convocation. Thanks to our community partners at Thompson Turner Construction, she also received a check for $4,500 at the event.
"My students," Coffey quickly answered when asked what drives her to excel. "And then trying to refine my practice so that I can best serve them."
Mrs. Coffey took the opportunity to use her spotlight on this special day to encourage others that are considering a career in education.
"You really just don't know how fulfilling it is until you come and experience the classroom. Until you experience those kids having success. Experience those overall success stories," she said. "I work in the high school environment where I get to see kids move from childhood to adulthood, and that is just so rewarding. It is just the greatest blessing that I've ever received."
